FAQs

Why are students required to do summer piano?

The #1 most important reason is because we work so hard on audiation and piano with your child during the school year. To just walk away from that for months over the summer creates a pretty major setback in the fall.

The second reason is that all Songs with Sarah teachers are employees and need consistency in their job and pay. The last thing we want is for our piano teachers to have to scrounge up part-time summer work, especially given the amazing summer program we launched last year in 2025!

Lastly, our teachers use the summer to take some of their vacation time and they do professional development to further their own education as teachers! Those workshops, conferences and classes always take place in the summer, so we have a lot of teachers that can’t keep up with their normal teaching schedule.

Why can't I keep my regular time slot all summer?

We know there are some families that wish for this, but the majority of our clients have told us they like the flexibility in our summer program. Our teachers also love the separate programming that involves students working together in camps/group lessons and being able to meet and teach more students. Our camps last year were unbelievable in the way they brought a community of young students together to create and learn all day!

Why are there two options for tuition?

We listened to your requests! Many families liked keeping tuition the same through the summer because it meant not having to pre-pay as well as having more options to choose from. However, some families need more financial flexibility, which is why we are offering the option to pay “a’la carte” this year. If you choose a’la carte, that means that we will bill you separately ahead of time, but your tuition will be turned off for June, July, and August.

How do I register?

Camp registration will be done internally. You will fill out a form with your top choice, second choice, etc. We will place students in each camp in order to have an even mix of levels. We will do this as quickly as possible so that you have your summer schedule solidified!

Why are Keyboard Games students no longer in mixed ages camps?

This was a tough call, but over all our week-long camps seemed much better suited for students that were in Music Moves Books 1 and up. We will be offering a Keyboard Games only camp that is half-day and very similar to the camps we ran last year. Keyboard Games students will also have opportunities to take group lessons over the summer.
